Jordan Azcune is an Australia contemporary artist and educator based in Meanjin/Brisbane

Utilizing sculptural processes connected in temperature, gravity and other atmospheric phenomena, Azcune creates artwork that negotiate understandings of our physical world

Informed by theology but conceptually distant from faith, his work uses abstraction to explore an exchange between the natural, queerness and spirituality. He negotiates technically rigorous forms with gesture, and is interested in materials such as wax and clay, which have the elemental states of being both liquid and solid. Reflecting on these material transformations caught in stasis, Azcuneā€™s work considers the spiritual and physical connection we have with our world and the precarious states of our own body.
