Lucy O'Doherty's work along with that of her father Reg Mombassa is part of Hazelhurst Regional Gallery's Shack Life exhibition.

SHACK LIFE is an exhibition of artworks by a mix of established artists and members of the shack communities of the New South Wales Royal National Park. Their works respond to the structure of the shacks, the spirit of the community and the power of the surrounding landscape.

The artworks seek to carry on the tradition of artists engaging with the Royal National Park shack communities as exemplified by artists such as Max Dupain, Hal Missingham and Margaret Olley.

Congratulations to Belynda Henry who is a finalist in the 2017 Paddington Art Prize with her work 'The River Came To Me And It Took It All Away II'.

The Paddington Art Prize is a $30,000 National acquisitive prize, awarded annually for a painting inspired by the Australian landscape. Established in 2004 by Arts Patron, Marlene Antico OAM, this National prize takes its place among the country’s most lucrative and highly coveted painting prizes.

The prize encourages the interpretation of the landscape as a significant contemporary genre, its long tradition in Australian painting as a key contributor to our national ethos, and is a positive initiative in private patronage of the arts in Australia.

Miranda Skoczek presents her first collection of jewelled works at Pieces of Eight Gallery in Melbourne as part of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival 2017.

In DESHILADO, Miranda pays homage to the samplers created by stitchers in the early 16th Century. The collection is a three dimensional gathering of a myriad of interests and influences remixing materials and techniques, blurring the boundaries between objects, jewellery and art.

With a desire to connect ancient traditions with fashion, while acknowledging the archaeological importance of jewellery as artefact, Skoczek takes the opportunity to bring permanency to ornaments that have up to this point existed as abstract fragments in her paintings.
