Nyinta Donald was born on Angas Downs. Her father was from Blood Range near Docker River, but he worked on Angas Downs bringing salt into Alice Springs on camel caravans. Her mother is from Kaanpi, and her parents met up at Docker River and moved to Angas Downs Station. Her mother raised three sons and Nyinta but the family moved to Areyonga Reserve administered for the Government by the Lutheran Mission. Nyinta worked at the primary school there for many years as a bilingual educator. Nyinta and her husband Freddie Peipei (now passed away), had three sons who are all grown up.

Nyinta has painted for a long time, including for the former Ngurratjuta Art Centre. Nyinta enjoys painting whatever comes to her mind based, on her life. A member of the Alice Springs Lutheran Church and its Mission Block Choir, her work is often informed by her spiritual beliefs and involvement with the church community.
